The VBS Committee would like to thank EVERYONE who helped in anyway with this year’s VBS. The support was great and the kids had a wonderful time…and so did some of the adults. Thank you again to all the parents who brought their kids to share their week with us and to learn about God’s Word, the Lord’s richest blessings on your summer.

ORDINATION NEWS

Sunday June 27^th at 4:00pm is the Ordination Service for Pastor Saari. All are invited and encouraged to attend this services to show your love and support for Pastor Saari and his family as he takes his vows to become a Pastor. This is a very special service. There will be a dinner following, see insert for more information.

SYNOD CONVENTION

Starts next Sunday June 20th in Mankato, MN. Pastor Hartwig will be out of the office that week to attend Synod Convention. If you need to see him please call the office this week to make an appointment.

SUMMER BREAK

Starting this week all of the teachers will be out of town for summer vacation and will not be back until mid-July to late July. If you have any questions regarding the school or information on enrollment or scholarships please see Kelly in the church office.

NEW MEDITATIONS

For this church season of Pentecost are now available on the back table in the Narthex or at the Chapel. Please pick up this FREE copy to go along with your daily devotions.

As of Monday the 17^th of May, I officially handed over the kitchen duties to Marie Fasching. I pray that God will be with her in all she does as He was with me. I thank God that he gave me the ability and the energy to do the job for the many years I served in the kitchen. I also thank God for all you wonderful people that came to my rescue time and time again. I know that you will also do the same for Marie. God’s blessings to you Marie, I know you will do a wonderful job.  Mary Duberowski

SUMMER BREAK

Starting the week of June 6^th there will be no Bible Study at the Chapel or Church for the months of June and July. Sunday School has started their break for the summer. There will still be refreshments and fellowship after the services.

VBS IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER

Remember VBS starts next week June 7-11 from 8am to 12noon. If you would like to pre-register your child or grandchild or know a child that would like to attend, registration forms are in the Narthex and at the Chapel today. Or you can pick one up in the church office this week from 9am-1pm. There are still sign-up forms for anyone who would like to help, but has not yet signed up in the Narthex and at the chapel. See Dee or Pastor Saari for more information.

The hours are 8 am to noon each day. This is a FREE event and is OPEN to the PUBLIC. Ages are K4 – 8th grade. Friday June 11th will be Fun Water Day with lunch provided.

To everyone who helped with the school play this year, especially Mrs. Carson and Mrs. Denney for their wonderful direction. Another year and another great job! The end of the year play is always a delight and this year was no exception. Congratulations to all the students for a wonderful job, we are truly blessed with talented students.

LUTHERAN BOY PIONEERS

The LBP would like to thank everyone who ordered hoagies from the boys this week to help them raise money for their fall camping trip. The boys had fun making them and we hear they tasted great!

Dear members of Our Saviour Lutheran Church,

I am writing to inform you that I am humbly accepting the Divine call which your congregation extended to me through the Assignment Committee of the Evangelical Lutheran Synod. With the help of God, I solemnly promise to preach the Word of God in all its truth and purity, to administer the Sacraments, and to perform the functions of a pastor in an evangelical manner.

I pray that the Lord Jesus Christ will grant me the grace to do that which He has called me to do. My family and I ask that you continue to remember us daily in your prayers so that together we can grow in grace and the knowledge of salvation through Jesus Christ. By the grace of God, may we say together with the apostle Paul, “[We] are not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes” (Rom 1:16). END of YEAR SCHOOL PLAY

Our Saviour Lutheran School is performing their annual school musicals and we would love for you to come! There will be two performances: 10:00am Dress Rehearsal and 6:00pm Evening performance. Grades K4-4 will be performing “3 of a Kind” and 5-8 will be performing “It’s Saturday!” The kids have worked very hard to put on a great show this year and we are looking forward to performing it for YOU!!

GRADUATION

Don’t forget Sunday May 23^rd is K & 8^th grade graduation. The children from the school will also be singing during the service. There will be no Bible Study or Sunday School after the service to allow the graduates and their families time for photos.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

There will be another VBS Planning Meeting on Monday May 24^th at 5:00pm in the Fellowship Hall. This is an important meeting for all volunteers and teachers. Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

On Tuesday we held our Open House at school. The Lord blessed us on so many different levels.  We were able to bring about ten new families through the school and had one register for next year.  We thank God for this awesome opportunity. We pray that He will lead the others to consider our school and join us later this summer.  We must also keep in mind that hopefully those ten that visited will tell another ten, and then we have 20 different families who have heard about school.

The Open House would not have been successful had it not been for everyone’s help.  Whether you brought some desserts, or helped us clean up on Sunday, or made a donation to help us buy things for one of the baskets, these were great ways to show your love for your Savior. To all of those that gave their time on Tuesday, we can’t thank you enough for that.  You can take great pride in the work that you did.

I am sure that I have not come close to handing out enough “thank yous” for the work that everyone did to help with the Open House, but we must remember that the biggest thanks needs to go to our Lord and Savior.  Without His help, everything we did would have meant nothing and been worthless. With His help, we hope to that he continues to keep the school in the hearts of those visitors and someday soon that they come and join our family.

So on behalf of everyone at the school, thank you again for your time, energy, and donations. God’s continued blessings to you and your family and to our school and their families.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

LUTHERAN SENTINEL
If you do not receive the Lutheran Sentinel every month, but would like to or you receive it and would no longer like to receive it. Please let Kelly know so she can send the updated list in.

QUILTERS & CRAFTERS
The ladies of the Quilters and Craters group will be selling buttons this year, much like their Christmas ones last year. This year it will say “Biblically Correct NOT Politically Correct.” The cost is $1 a piece. They are available in the Fellowship Hall and at the Chapel.

MEETING DAY CHANGES
Please note due to the Open House at the school on Tuesday May 4th the Trustees and Board of Education Meetings have been moved to Monday May 3rd at the same times as their usual schedule.

LADIES GUILD
Thank you to all the ladies who attended the Spring Luncheon at Casa Serrano on Saturday. It was a great way to end the season before the summer break, see you in September.

SCHOOL NEWS

Tuesday May 4th from 5-7pm the school will be holding an Open House for the community, with open enrollment, food and prizes!

Thank you to everyone who stepped up and volunteered or donated money or items for the Open House. There are just a few more things we need:

1.    Baked goods are needed for dessert that night. See one of teachers in the Narthex after the service with the sign-up sheet.
2.    Popcorn (non-microwave type) old fashioned seeds and butter for popping.
3.    Chips to be served with the hotdogs.

Come and show your support for the church and school by coming to the Open House.  The more the merrier. The church and school are one in this effort, even if you don’t have kids at the school, by being there and sharing how the school enriches the church, it will make a big difference.  Now is the time to make a difference, come and do your part.

Get the word out about our school. The IBE Scholarship has been extended, scholarship monies are available to students coming from public school. See Kelly or Chris for more info. The Director of IBE will be on hand at the Open House to help expedite the scholarship applications and answer questions. Help us reach and exceed our goal of 15 new students!
