Don’t Forget Vespers!

We offer a midweek Vespers service every week at our Chapel location, Wednesdays at 6:30 PM.

This service is not the same service as our Sunday morning services, so please take this midweek opportunity to meditate on God’s Word.

CHANGE IN SERVICE TIME
Please note that starting NEXT Sunday, Aug. 7 the start time for the Chapel service will go back to 10:45am. This will give Pastor Saari a few extra minutes to get to the north side of town.

VOTERS MEETING
Tuesday August 2nd at 6:00pm there will be a special Voters Meeting to discuss calling or not calling another pastor to fill Pastor Hartwig’s position. All eligible voters are urged to attend. There will be no meal before the meeting.

Pastor and Katie would like to than everyone for the warm wishes, prayers and gifts as leave for their new call in Mankato. We all wish Pastor Hartwig and family the Lord’s richest blessings and safe travel to their new home. Once Pastor and Katie get settled I will print their new address and phone number for everyone.

Dee Eddington would like to thank everyone for their prayers and sympathy during theses last few weeks; it has been a great comfort to her. She would also like to thank everyone who helped to make the service and the luncheon a thoughtful and memorable event. Thank you and God Bless!

MONDAY EVENING CHAPEL SERVICES
Mondays at 6:30pm we will be offering a week day evening service for anyone who may have missed church on Sunday. The service will be held at the Chapel on the north side.

Easter Lilies
Judy Baker will be in the narthex after the service for anyone that wants to purchase Easter lilies. The lilies will be on the altar for the Easter Sunday service. The cost is $10.

World Needs – Japan
In the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami that have devastated our friends in Japan, our hearts and prayers turn toward the victims there and especially our fellow Christians in the Lutheran Evangelical Christian Church-Japan. If you would like to give a gift to relief efforts in Japan, we encourage you to give your gift through the ELS Board for Christian Service. They will work in conjunction with WELS Committee on Relief in order to give immediate help, as well as to make plans for longer term relief with a keen eye towards spiritual needs. You may give online through the link at the bottom of the synod’s home page, www.evangelicallutheransynod.org or by mailing your gift to Evangelical Lutheran Synod, 6 Browns Ct, Mankato, MN 56001, with “World Needs-Japan” marked in the memo line.

Ladies Guild Spring Luncheon
The luncheon is Saturday, April 2 at La Vita Dolce at 11:30 a.m. There is a signup sheet in the narthex. All ladies are invited. If you have any questions, please call Dee at 680-1663.

SCHOOL BOARD OPEN HOUSES
As mentioned before, the school board is hosting open houses from 4pm-7pm on March 10, 17, and 24. For each of these events we would like to have cookies and drinks available – to hopefully encourage current families and volunteers to mingle with the prospective families visiting the school! If you are able to provide either of these items, please see Mrs. Denney after church or call the church office.

DRIVERS NEEDED
Mrs. Denney is looking for drivers to help shuttle the school kids from the school to the Chapel for the 12noon Lenten services on Wednesday’s, starting with Ash Wednesday. The students would leave school by 11:30am and return by 1:30pm after the service. Please let Mrs. Denney know by Monday March 7th.

DIAMONDBACKS GAME
Lamb of God Church here in Havasu has a bus going to Opening Day of the Diamondbacks Game on Friday, April 8th. Cost is $58, ($30 for ticket, $28 for bus) if you are interested or have any questions call Connie Doughty at 453-3713

LENTEN DINNERS
Marie has had all the dates filled by volunteers, but is looking for a few more volunteers to work with Laurie Mosher on March 30th. Laurie will be making lasagna and needs help with someone bringing a salad and dessert and helping serve. If you want to help see Marie

CHURCH PICNIC
Sunday March 27th is the Annual Church Picnic, London Bridge Beach – New Location. We are moving the picnic to the other side of the channel to Ramada’s 6 & 7, near the playground, basketball and volleyball courts. Marie also needs an idea on how many will be attending. If you are planning on coming please let her know for planning purposes.

PRISM PHASES I & II
Congratulations to the group who have completed Phase I, the group has lost a total of 70lbs in 6 weeks. They have gotten over sugar withdrawal, no bread and no potatoes and have taught their families to make healthy eating choices. As we go into the Lenten season many people prepare to “give up” certain things, why not give up processed foods, white sugar and starch and see how much better you feel. Eat how God intended, your body will thank you for it! The meetings provide support, menu ideas and focus on what you CAN eat, not what you give up for 6 weeks. The group going into Phase II will share what helped get them through the past 6 weeks. We meet at 6pm in the Fellowship Hall on Tuesday’s. What do you have to lose?

BAKE SALE HELP
We are in need of Bake Sale workers and bakers for the March 5th Open Houses. Funds raised will go to “Mission to the Children” with matching funds from Thrivent. WE NEED YOUR HELP!

RESPITE HOUSE

Respite House is looking for volunteers for their day program caring for the elderly. They are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2p.m. They currently service six clients, serving breakfast, lunch and doing craft activities. They would appreciate any volunteers that could contribute what time they may have available. Please contact Donna at Respite House 453-9672.

VOTERS MEETING & SOUP/SALAD SUPPER

The Annual Voters’ Meeting will be on Tuesday January 25. Supper is at 6 p.m. The meeting will follow at 6:30 p.m. All eligible voters are urged to attend. Volunteers are needed to make a soup, salad or dessert for the evening. Please see Marie is you would like to help.

REFRESHMENTS & FLOWERS

The signup sheets are in the narthex. Please help by signing up to either provide refreshments for fellowship or flowers for our altar. This is just one more way to give back to the Lord for all the blessings He has given to us.

WOMEN’S MISSION RALLY

This year the Women’s Rally will be at Family of God Lutheran Church, in Ft. Mohave on Saturday January 29, 2011. Registration forms and information are available in the narthex and at the Chapel. Please see Kathleen Jacobs or Pam Barry for more information.

PRISM PROGRAM

Phase I started last week it’s not too late to join. The group meets on Tuesday at 6pm in the Fellowship Hall. See Kelly in the church office for more information.

LUTHERAN BOY PIONNERS

LBP now meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at 4:30 p.m. at the Chapel. Please make this change to your January calendars.

STAGECOACH TRAILS RETREAT

The retreat has been cancelled due to lack of interest. Refund checks have been distributed.

FELLOWSHIP HALL PROJECT

Carpet has been purchased and should be installed in the next few weeks. Volunteers may be needed to move furniture when it comes.
